HOUSTON ROCKETS

Social Media Coordinator & Content Creator

July 2021 - Present

Following my graduation from the University of Florida, I moved to Houston, Texas, to join the digital team at the Houston Rockets. As a social media coordinator, my job is to curate and manage the brand social feeds, including the Rockets' Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube pages.

Additionally, I create a large amount of content. Through vertical video and photography, I aim to tell the story of this basketball team in a unique and personal way, diminishing the barrier between Rockets fans and their favorite athletes.

2022-23 SEASON

My second year in the NBA was a tremendous growing period for me as a creative, professional and overall human being. As you scroll, you'll see for yourself the improvements I worked hard to make both in my storytelling and my photography.

With an entire season of work under my belt, I felt calm and confident going into what was another very difficult year for the Rockets on the court. My goal was to continue bridging the gap between a young basketball team and their fanbase by utilizing current social trends and a fresh, organic approach to social.

Day in the Life with Boban Marjanović

Written, filmed, directed and edited by yours truly, this Day in The Life with Boban Marjanovic is one of my proudest pieces of work.

Earning over 3 million impressions across platforms in its' first 3 days, this video sits as one of the Rockets' highest performing content pieces for the '22-23 season. Additionally, it was one of the top 10 most-viewed videos on the NBA app during the '22-23 regular season.

2023 All-Star Weekend

This season, I covered 4 Rockets players participating in the 2023 All-Star Weekend events. With three rookies in the Rising Stars Game and Kenyon Martin Jr. representing in the Dunk Contest, it was a busy weekend to say the least.

Tiny Mic Interviews

A regular interview, but the mic is tiny.

These were our most popular style of content with fans on social. These videos gave the athletes the opportunity to show their personality and give fans some insight into who they are off the court.

Media Day with Tari Eason

Rockets fans got an inside look at our 2023 Media Day with this behind-the-scenes piece featuring Tari Eason. I filmed, directed and edited this piece with the rookie, who we had drafted only 2 months before. Our fan base got a formal introduction to Tari as this was one of our first major piecing of content highlighting him.

Organic Moments

Right time, right place.

I truly enjoy being able to capture these moments with our players and share them with Rockets fans. Not only do these kinds of videos humanize our players, but they allow fans to feel like they're up close and personal with their favorite athletes.

Host - Outer Banks Post-Game Q&A

In March, I had the pleasure of hosting four members of the Outer Banks cast for a post-game Q&A with over 1,000 fans.

I was also in charge of creating the social media strategy for the Outer Banks Night marketing activation. The content with the cast brought a large and new audience to our social media channels with the show having a very niche audience.

2021-22 SEASON

During my first season with the Rockets, I created a variety of content for our fan base, ranging from long-form vlogs to purposefully low-quality memes. I gave our followers an inside look at the organization and players representing their city.

Throughout this rebuilding season, my goal was to get creative with the personalities we had on our team. I looked for ways to build the relationship between our team and the fans regardless of the outcome on the court.

Josh Christopher Media Day Vlog

One of my first long-form projects for the Houston Rockets digital team was this Media Day Vlog with Josh Christopher. I pitched this idea specifically for Christopher, who I had noticed has the perfect personality for a task like this one. We capitalized on his natural in-front-of-the-camera ability to give our fans an up close and personal look at what goes on during an NBA media day.

I produced, directed and edited this piece after assisting Josh throughout the entire day of filming. Next, I planned the social rollout and promotion of the video across the Rockets' social platforms. Moments from this video were referenced and "GIF'd" by fans throughout the rest of the season and to this day.

Game Day in the Life of Alperen Sengun

This Game Day in The Life video with Rockets rookie Alperen Sengun was one of my favorite pieces of content I've produced with the team. I pitched the idea for this piece after getting to know Sengun and his witty personality. With Alperen being a favorite among the Houston fan base, this vlog performed as one of our most highly engaged pieces of the season.

After pitching the idea for this segment, I was also responsible for directing, filming and editing the video for IG Reels, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube formats.

ROCKETS ON TIKTOK

One of my responsibilities as part of the Rockets digital team is to manage and create content for our TikTok account. I was able to build our account to one million followers during the 2021-22 season.
